What a great year it was for Formula one. This year we saw the emergence of Lewis Hamilton who reminded us of great Micheal Schumacher who not only was a superb driver on the field but a great human being off the field. The season has also been in the midst of the controversy when Ferrari’s technical engineer NIGEL STEPNEY was accused of sabotaging the car in Monaco Grand Prix which was followed by the Spygate scandal where STEPNEY passed 780-page of Ferrari’s technical dossier to Mclaren’s chief Designer MIKE COUGHLAN that saw the the yoke based team getting stripped of this year’s Constructor’s title and was handed a 100m$ fine. The biggest fine ever in the history of any sport. But the Mclaren Drivers are spared just because they helped FIA in the investigation of the Spygate scandal and as FIA President Max Mosley that all are excited about the driver’s battle and so we should support it and that’s why they provide amnesty to the drivers.
But Formula one world should look at the positive factors of this year. The positive thing of this year is Lewis Hamilton, he is the next big thing. Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula one commercial rights head has already said that ‘Hamilton is the saviour of Formula one’. He has not only brought millions of people in front of the T.V. sets who left watching F1 during the 5 year dominance of Micheal Schumacher but there is also a big rise in the ticket sales in all the Grand Prix race. His character seems to be more like that of a Peace maker or a socialist leader. Indeed he is the leader of the new generation Of F1 fans. After Micheal retired from the sport last year everyone thought F1 will be boring. Some people are ofcourse interested in Alonso but Alonso had nothing new to give. He was simply a race driver who is aggressive and given a good car he will do his job for the team and especially for himself. Kimi is the most talented and gifted driver in Formula one at this moment but he has also succumbed under pressure. But Lewis simply seems to be a different guy. His driving style is smooth, he takes on every challenge that has been thrown to him since his very first race in Melbourne and in your Rookie year in F1 you are not expected to win the championship but Lewis has come close to create a big history that was never been created before. People would say that he was driving a Mclaren but so what. Ofcourse Nino Farina was the first champion driving a Alfa Romeo of Formula One back in 1950,its first season but you can’t call him a rookie because the standard of racing then was ofcourse very dangerous but there was lesser technicalities in the game and Europeans where always been known for hosting motor racing competition throughout the continent and Formula One then was another one like that.Nino Farina was then aged 44 but Lewis at 22,from his very first race has been soaking up all the pressure that has been exerted by the Alonso’s, Raikkonen’s and Massa’s.
Lewis’s 3 best race for me has been USA, Canada & Malaysia and ofcourse not forget the wet race at Fuji last week. Lewis’s biggest adversary this year has been his teammate & double world champion Fernando Alonso. Alonso no doubt is one of the best driver in the business but is he a good team man and a good sportsman? Well I doubt it.I have never heard a driver blackmailing his team principal. Yes he did blackmailed Ron Dennis. One Great thing about Ron Dennis is that he treat both of his drivers equally and not like his Ferrari counterparts who will always treat his Driver 1 more than Driver2.One big example of Ferrari’s team orders was the Austrian Gp,2002 when at the start finish line race leader and then Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello was told to live Micheal Schumacher the second place man and Ferrari Driver 1 to let him win the race. After the race Micheal was reluctant to get upto the top step of the podium, well I don’t remember Dennis doing so, in his life because the biggest teammate battle that was ever seen in F1 was between Alain Prost & Ayrton Senna was within his team. Alonso in this respect is a disgrace to the game who blackmailed Dennis and said if he don’t give him the race advantage over Lewis in the track then he will Spill all the beans over the Spygate scandal. Rumour says that Alonso may be leaving Mclaren after this controversial year. But still one more race is left and the battle for the Drivers title is a three way fight. It will be Alonso vs Lewis vs Kimi after an eventful race in China today where Ferrari’s Kim Raikkonen won the 200th race for the Marenello based team followed by Alonso who is just 4 points behind Lewis and 3 ahead of kimi.It seems more like a WWE triple threat championship match. When everyone thought it is Lewis Hamilton’s day things happened the other way and sadly he couldn’t finish the race after he got trapped in the gravel trap while entering the pit lane as he was getting in to change his tyres which where almost destroyed in the tricky conditions. But still Lewis should not get demotivated and should look forward to the race in Brazil.
Come what may the race in Brazil is going to be an absolute scorcher in two weeks time.
